I went to the pd360 website and watched the video. It was clarifying to see different applications of these graphic organizers. Since we're in the middle of this in double-dose, I'll have a better sense of individuation for the students. In other words, I can give them their choices, and then I'll give them the freedom to capture the elements of a reading selection on whichever style works best for them. If I chunk it properly, I think they can find out something about themselves: what note-taking style works best for them, how best they can organize their vocabulary tasks, etc.

I watched the PD 360 video. I really only liked the Concept Map for our students. I did not like the Fryer Model at all. The key issue though was the last issue "Active Processing and Elaboration." It seems to me vocabulary must be used (either spoken or written) to become part of a students "working repertoire" of expression.

The pd360 video provided several models for expanding vocabulary which appeared to be easy to implement. I liked the Sematic Feature Analysis which allowed group discussion when determining appropriate key applications. The Word Elaboration model was also effective especially since it allowed the student to decide on the method which would be most effective for them....choosing between a web, note form, or chart.
