Anticipatory guided questions: I typed up a list of uoi/non questions to start class with today. I was ambitious-ten easy vocab and ten harder comprehension questions. Twenty were too many, and students got bogged down in them. I also, unrealistically expected them to write a corrected sentence in French for each NON answer. I'll know next time to keep it short and simple, and plan to introduce writing in smaller chunks as well. The students were initially confused by the assignment in 7th grade, but the 8th grade rolled right into the task-because it matched their comprehension level better.
Our goal for professional development this year is to meet the specific needs of members of our Professional Learning Community. After each professional development opportunity, participants are asked to reflect and then comment on the presentation and on the implementation of the strategies in your classroom.
We believe we can build a core of professional knowledge that will benefit each of us.
Additionally, independent professional development will be offered online. Staff members who participate in online p.d. should write a reflection of their work on the blog.
